Safety Training for School Resource Officers

One in five young adults with Autism will have an interaction with a police officer before the age of 21 – often in school or out in the community. Unfortunately, these encounters can lead to negative outcomes due to a mismatch between standard de-escalation techniques and Autistic neurology.
Safety on the Spectrum™ bridges this gap by equipping law enforcement with the knowledge and tools to create safe, respectful and effective interactions for all.
We invite School Resource Officers to join us for a virtual training session focused on understanding Autism and its impact on students. Participants will gain practical strategies, insights, and resources they can apply to support Autistic students, develop informed safety plans, and use de-escalation techniques tailored to their needs.

Safety on the Spectrum™: Autism-Informed De-Escalation Training for School Resource Officers is offered twice a year in a virtual format. This training is 2-hours long and includes a communication board and sensory kit for each participant. Sensory kits include noise-cancelling headphones, sunglasses, fidget toys, stress balls, and bubbles.

Fall 2025 Training: October 16th, 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
