Wisconsin Historical Society Library Tour

July 13 @ 10:30 am 11:30 am

Free

Ages

Autistic Adults (18+)

Let’s step back in time as we tour the Wisconsin Historical Society Library. This 60-75 minute tour will include seeing pieces of the library and possible archives collection as well as getting a guided tour into some of the library research and collection spaces. The library is on the second floor of the building and the archives are on the fourth floor; elevators are available if needed.

The library is housed in the Wisconsin Historical Society headquarters building at 816 S. State St, right on the Library Mall on the UW-Madison campus.  We will meet in the lobby on the first floor right inside the front doors. Check in with program coordinator Angela, who’ll be in a yellow ASC t-shirt when you arrive. Our tour guide Jill, Reference Librarian & Stacks Manager at the Historical Society Library, will meet us in the lobby and then take our group up to the Library on the second floor. There is a ramp on the north side of the exterior entrance to the building and an elevator to all floors for accessibility.

There are several parking options, though some of them require walking. There is some street parking near the building; the closest parking garage is in the Helen C. White building. Other parking garage options are in the Lake St. garage (entrance on Francis St.) and the Lake & Johnson ramp. Both are several blocks away from the building. Here is a page with more information: https://transportation.wisc.edu/parking-lots/.
