Football camp is designed for anyone on the autism spectrum, in grades K-12, so they can experience what a football camp would be like while taking in their unique sensory needs along the way. The camp is just 1 1/2 hours long and includes 10 different stations around the football field where different drills are run by local high school football players with support people present if needed. Each station is 8 minutes long. Parents are highly encouraged to be on the field with their participant. We group the kids according to their age group because of their size. There are no more than 5 kids per group because we limit the number of kids at 50.
We understand that not everyone wants to do all of the drills and that’s perfectly okay with us. The kids are allowed to take breaks as needed and are encouraged to do what they need to meet their sensory needs. Stations include passing, rushing, catching a ball and landing on a large pad, trying to kick a field goal etc. There is no contact between participants, the only contact that occurs is with your child and pads they may be running into.
After the camp we all go into the cafeteria and enjoy a meal to include hot dogs and brats and the kids will receive a participation medal.
For more information about the camp, please contact the Football Camp Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our sincerest thanks to our sponsor,
